Football´s value and profit... Let´s reflect!

❓ When you think about the word VALUE in football – what comes to mind?

❓ When you think about the word PROFIT in football – what comes to mind?

👉🏿 It´s natural to immediately think about the huge economic VALUE creation. And huge financial PROFIT.

💰 Because football has unlocked billions of dollars and has become
an intrinsic contributor to the modern global economy. And its popularity is not slowing down. Football played by women is the next big boom.

***** And now another question:

❓ What is it that you VALUE about the game?

💙 There are such diverse reasons why people love this game. Its popularity and culture-defining abilities make it an important force for people and communities.

BUT.... How we currently think about the VALUE of football is skewed to an interpretation of it in FINANCIAL terms. Which then also skews priorities and decisions in the professional game....

Financial profit is, of course, important. But what about:

🌱 Social profit.
🌱 Cultural profit.
🌱 Ecological profit.

⚽ Are they as important? Would the huge economic value and financial profits slow down if we factored in other forms of profit into priorities and decisions? Would it even matter if financial revenues were less but ecological profit was higher? Can all forms of value co-exist in a business model for the sport?
