⚽⚽❓ Ever imagined what football could or should be?
My friends Dr. Jacob Naish, Preeti Shetty, Dan Wood and I (a group of friends with 80+ years combined experience in the football industry) think about this all the time.
When we think about what football could be, we think that:
✔️ The people who own that game should reflect the diversity of those people who play and watch it.
✔️ Football governance should be transparent, democratic, and equitable.
✔️ Football is for everyone, irrespective of gender, race, ability, sexuality, religion, or political status.
✔️ Football is political; football is a space for expression and celebration of diverse identities. It’s a space to express, not restrain yourself.
✔️ Football is a platform to lead on progressive social change to make the world better (football doesn't just have to be a mirror of society as it is now).
✔️ Entertaining and social football experiences must be accessible.
✔️ Learning about the game should be low cost: you shouldn’t need a €35,000 MBA to learn what you need to learn to get into the game, and change it.
✔️ As a Public Good, football should be owned and run transparently and democratically, not just by elites.
