Why, how and the impact of our free course on Web 3.0 and Sport

Last month, we launched a free intro course on WEB 3.0 and SPORT… Here’s the why, how, and impact of it so far! 💡👀

❓❓WHY?

One question that I am asked frequently is… What the XYZ is Web 3.0?!

Meanwhile, the inequalities women face in sport parallel those facing women in tech, sports tech, and indeed Web 3.0.

So we decided to do our small bit to condense years of learning (and confusion) into a succinct and digestible introductory 3 hour course.

And why for free? To make the course as accessible as possible, especially women. And demonstrate our commitment to challenging structural inequalities and practices, like gatekeeping.

❓❓ HOW?

As a practitioner more used to hands-on programs and people, writing the course was quite the taxing and lengthy intellectual exercise for me (Aisha Nazia meanwhile, cool as a cucumber!) But we got there, and with thanks to several revisions and edits by Leanne Bats and Rebecca Sowden.

In Barcelona in July, Aisha and I had a lot of fun curating the content, shooting Q&As with experts Dr. Jacob Naish, Dan Wood, Preeti Shetty, Leanne Bats and Rebecca Sowden, and filming the course in our sweaty make-shift studio!

❓❓ IMPACT SO FAR?

Some learners got in touch with glitches that they had encountered, which showed us that there is value and support for our intentions and a course of this nature.

And many learners got in touch and shared their feedback - overwhelmingly encouraging! 🙏🏽

✅ “I thoroughly enjoyed and valued the course -- it was brilliant!”
“I love course subject and am also a massive sports fan so this is just perfect for me.”

✅ “I really like the way it is structured. I personally am well versed with the concepts, but the Q&As allow an insight into professionals working in the industry, which is great.”

✅ “I’ve just finished the READY course, which was brilliant and just what I needed to understand Web 3.0, metaverse, and DAOs. I am very inspired by the whole thing, especially DAOs. It basically paves the way for startups to gain support funding directly from users who care about it, be co-owned, and co-created.”
